UCOL Shuttle Bus

Welcome to Semester 2

Students and staff are reminded that all bus passengers must show their UCOL ID to the driver when boarding the bus – No ID, no travel.

If you don’t have a current UCOL ID you need to go to the Student Resources Centre (PN) or Information Centre (Whanganui) and ask for a new ID to be printed. Without evidence of a current UCOL ID the bus driver has the authority to decline any passenger the privilege of travelling on the bus.

Pick-up and Drop-off Points:

  • Palmerston North - pick-up / drop off point is in King Street at the rear of the Regent Arcade (next to Stage Door Café).
  • Whanganui – pick-up / drop-off point is at UCOL (in Rutland St).

Registering to Travel:

If you have not already done so or your circumstances have changed, please ensure you register to travel on the intercampus bus service by emailing UCOL FM Helpdesk and provide the following details:

Name

Student ID

Address of where you live

Contact Number

Programme you are studying

Passenger priority:

As previously advised, seats on this service are limited and are assigned on the following priorities:

  • First priority - students studying unique programmes on campus – i.e. if you cannot access your programme where you live

  • Second priority - if you already travelled on the bus in 2015 and are moving onto your second or third year of study

  • Thirdly, all other students, staff and alumni

Second and third priority passengers travel on the understanding that if there is not a seat available they will not be able to travel and will need to have an alternative back up arrangement in place

Morning bus service:

While we endeavour to have the bus service running to time there are occasions where things may happen out of our control.

On the back of your UCOL ID is the afterhours contact number for security assistance.  Should the bus be delayed and not arrive at the pickup point by 6:45am, please call the number and ask for assistance.  Security are authorised to contact the bus company to advise them there is an issue and request information to pass on back to the caller.

Additional information:

We have made some changes to make catching the Palmerston North and Whanganui Campus bus more student friendly.

Buses are now departing at more reasonable times, giving our students and staff more time to do what they love.

We have changed our booking system so that students and staff can reserve their seat for the semester - this will ensure that our regular travellers are a priority.

Registering to travel can be made directly through Facilities Management by emailing the
UCOL FM Helpdesk with priority given to students that are studying a unique programme on another campus (i.e. – students that cannot access programmes in the place they live).

In the event of any delay with this service (e.g. traffic, accident, breakdown, etc.) Facilities Management staff will notify students/staff the extent of the delay. Please wait in the Atrium as the pick-up point for the driver.
