Terms and Conditions

Summarised Terms and Conditions

Your organisation has an annual subscription to access Joint Australian/New Zealand (AS/NZS)
and New Zealand (NZS) Standards through the Standards New Zealand Online Library Service.

As an employee or student you are an authorised user of this service. You must adhere to the terms and conditions that your organisation has agreed to. A summary of the terms and conditions relevant to you follows. If you are at all unsure about any of the terms and conditions, please ask your administrator or contact Standards New Zealand.



  1. You may download a single copy of a Standards New Zealand Document and retain that
    copy for temporary use on your personal computer for your internal purposes only. You
    must not download Standards New Zealand Documents onto a CD Rom, data stick,
    floppy disk, or other portable device.
  2. You may print one hard copy of any Standards New Zealand Document in your Online
    Library Portfolio for your own temporary internal use. These copies must not be used to
    build up a hard copy Reference Collection.
  3. When your subscription ends, you must destroy all downloaded Standards New Zealand
    Documents in your possession, including all partial copies, whether in electronic or hard
    copy form.
  4. You do not own any of the Standards New Zealand Documents, whether in electronic or
    hard copy form, obtained directly or indirectly through the Online Library Service. You
    acknowledge that copyright subsists in each of the Standards New Zealand Documents
    and that full title to that copyright is at all times retained by Standards New Zealand.
  5. You undertake not to modify, merge with other software or documents, or circulate
    including via electronic mail, even for your internal purposes, any part of any Standards
    New Zealand Document in any form without securing the prior written permission of
    Standards New Zealand except as otherwise may be expressly permitted under the
    Copyright Act 1994.
  6. Under no circumstances may you sell or transfer to a third party a Standards New
    Zealand Document, whether in electronic or hard copy form, in full or in part.
  7. Under no circumstances may you place any Standards New Zealand Document you
    download on a network of any sort without the prior written permission of Standards New
    Zealand.
  8. You will not modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or create
    derivative works based on the Standards New Zealand Documents without the prior
    written permission of Standards New Zealand.
  9. You acknowledge that the right of access to the Online Library Service is personal to you
    and you cannot transfer, sell, lease, license, rent or loan that right to a third party.
  10. You undertake to keep your Authorised User identification information, including logins
    and passwords, secret and secure.
  11. You agree:
  • not to permit any third party to use your Authorised User’s login
  • not to disclose, or provide to any third party, an Authorised User’s password oany information that may allow them to gain access to the Online Library Service using an Authorised User’s identification’ and
  • to, at all times, use all reasonable efforts to ensure that no improper or unauthorised use of your Authorised User’s identification information is made
